In 1931 the then owner of Walthamstow Stadium, William Chandler, decided to open a bookmaker at the site. This venture proved to be extremely successful and William Chandler became one of the most well-known turf accountants in London.

William Chandler died 1946, leaving the bookmaking business to his sons Victor and Jack. Victor ran the business until 1974 when he too died and passed William Chandler onto his own son, also called Victor, who moved the company to Gibraltar in 1998.

In 2004 the company was renamed ‘VC Bet’ and then again to ‘Victor Chandler’ in 2008. Another four years passed before the company was renamed again, this time to BetVictor. The company remains registered in Gibraltar with the proper licensing from the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.
